Een foto van een rouwende Iraakse man op de voorpagina van een Amerikaanse krant was voor veel lezers reden om hun abonnement op te zeggen.
De reacties, gericht aan de The Oregonian:
Why did you run a picture of an Iraqi family bombed instead of a rescued soldier?
Civilian casualties should not be main focal point of a daily newspaper. How about celebrating the return of one of our own?
I am sickened by your front page today! How can you put that poor G.I. in a side column, yet make the Iraqi man who lost his family the main theme? Are you not American?
The picture on today's newspaper is a great attempt to give sympathy and support to a merciless enemy.
You are ANTI- AMERICAN, ANTI-WAR!
We want to see the positive side of the war.
